If you can draw a portrait you can draw anything… The techniques you learn in this class have been proven to produce accurate results time and time again. You will learn to break down the human head by using simple proportions and structure. We will go over values, skin tones, brush control and basic composition. We will draw and paint from a human skull, plaster busts, photos, and painting from the old masters. Every class will have an instructor demo and one on one attention.

This course will explore the expressive immediacy and rich depth of color that can be achieved using soft pastel, a unique medium where pure pigment is applied without the use of tools such as brushes or pallet knife. Emphasis will be on developing compositions from photographs, with subjects ranging from still life and landscape to portraits and the figure. This class will reinforce and build on the student's knowledge and skill in the use of color theory, principles of composition and design, and drawing and perspective. Appropriate for artists of all levels of experience.

Wednesday, 1:00 - 4:00 PM
This class is offered in person or online, and is appropriate for all levels of watercolor artists.
Beginners will gain confidence and an understanding of this unique and fun medium through a series of specific lessons about paint, brushes, paper, mixing color, washes, wet into wet, dry brush, etc.
More advanced students will work on projects of their own choosing or a class project to further challenge and grow their understanding and confidence in the medium.

This course offers a complete approach to oil and/or acrylic painting. Using a limited palette of five colors, beginning students will work from a still life, while more advanced students may work from photographs or other reference materials. All will learn techniques and procedures for the successful use of oil paints in personal expression. Emphasis will be on composition, the importance of simple shapes, value, and color to create interesting compositions and harmonious paintings.
