Ken joudrey ( www. kenjoudrey.com ) received his BFA from Art Center College of Design in 1981. He then moved to NYC to start his career in Illustration. Ken has worked for the the largest publishing, design firms, and advertising firms in the country, such as Simon & Shuster, NY Times, Harper Collins, St. Martin’s Press, Sports Illustrated, Work Wildlife Fund, Etc. He has created original artwork for over 100 nationally published book covers, including NY Times best selling authors, such as Pulitzer Prize Winner Larry McMurtry, Barbara Kingsolver, Kingsley Amis, Walker Percy, Jack Higgins, etc. His artwork was used in the Steven King movie, ‘Secret Window’, starring Jonny Depp and for the cover of “Where the Red Fern Grows”, required reading in public schools. Ken has also created nationally distributed packaging artwork for Celestial Seasonings, Tropicana, Ocean Spray, Seagrams, Sunkist, Ralston Purina etc. Locally he was commissioned by The Old Globe Theatre to create the artwork for their 75th anniversary and also by the San Diego Padres for artwork that hangs in the stadium. Ken has received numerous awards including The NY Society of Illustrators Annuals, Communicative Arts Annuals, Society of Publications Designers NYC, Desi Award of Graphic Design USA, etc. Ken was president of the San Diego Society of Illustrators (2004-2009). He has taught at Palomar College for 17 years and continues his freelance art career with commissions, book covers, packaging art etc.

This class is offered in person or online, and is appropriate for all levels of watercolor artists.
Beginners will gain confidence and an understanding of this unique and fun medium through a series of specific lessons about paint, brushes, paper, mixing color, washes, wet into wet, dry brush, etc.
More advanced students will work on projects of their own choosing or a class project to further challenge and grow their understanding and confidence in the medium.
